Tips & Services

I’ve put together a few simple tips here that will help you better prepare for your photo session. This will ensure an effective and harmonious running of the shoot. Maybe this is your first time in front of the camera so keep on reading and everything will be just fine.

Family portraits

Family sessions are taken place outdoors in the late afternoons so depending on the season times will vary from 3.30pm to 5pm depending on the season. This will then provide the best lighting for your photos.

When choosing your clothing try to keep your outfits coordinating, but not matching – we don’t want everyone dressing in the same outfit!

Try to avoid clothing with words, patterns or logos.  This will insure your photographs remain timeless. Still unsure? Have a look at pintrest. You will find lots of inspiration for your photography session there. We are more than happy to assist you along the way!

Maternity portraits

It is ideal to book your Maternity Portrait session when you are around 32 to 36 weeks pregnant when you are in your full pregnancy glow. These sessions are mostly done outdoors and we can also provide you with some locations depending on your style and taste. You should allow yourself one hour for this session and you should bring 2 sets of clothing – one being casual and one more formal. It is best that your chosen outfits are figure hugging, maxi dresses do seem to be popular. We can also provide you with maternity gowns as well – you can view our selection in our Maternity Information Guide.

Newborn Sessions

Newborn sessions are ideally done within the first 12 days after birth if you are after those snugly photos. If you cannot make it before then – don’t stress as I understand that the first few weeks are the hardest. Newborn sessions can take up to 2-4 hours; this allows time to feed, change and pose your baby. If timing works, it is best to have a feed just before the session. This will fill them up and hopefully send them off into that baby food coma we all chuckle over so we can capture those sleepy poses.

Always bring along extra bottles, a dummy and a change of clothes for you – the parents.

Milestone sessions

These sessions are simple and are tailored to suit babies from three months through to the toddler stage. We let the play, explore, giggle and capture them as they are.

We try to capture their special milestones as they grow and develop – tummy time, playing with feet, smiles, sitting, crawling and standing!

Cake Smash Sessions

Cake Smash Sessions are one of our favorite sessions! Want to know why?! Well you see, you put a beautiful decorated cake in front of your 1 year old and let them go to town with it! And we then get to witness their facial expressions and reactions to what might be their first take of icing and cake!

These sessions are tailored to focus and celebrate your child’s first birthday. This is such a special moment for your child, and you – the parents! And what better way to capture and remember this special moment than to plan a Cake Smash session with us, in a relaxed and carefree atmosphere!

We recommend that you bring along with you, your cake, a change of clothes for your child and yourself and a towel to dry off after the bath.

Questions:

What is a fine art print?

Most of our packages come with a fine art print. Sounds a little fancy right? Well that’s because it is! Fine Art Prints are a beautiful way to bring your photographs to life. They aren’t your traditional photo print that you order from the likes of Office Works or Big W. They are printed on professional art paper , which is a museum-quality paper that is a thick 300gsm paper made from archival cotton rag and printed using archival pigment inks which offers a superior finish and printed to last a life time.

What if I want to purchase additional photographs or print products after my session?
